Women and Paint

My presentation went over well. Kim really liked the deconstruction parts of it, where I examined the time periods and the racial stereotypes that Disney used. That isn’t really what I want the paper to be about, though. I want the paper to be about new things, and new ways of doing cartoons. This whole class has made me soooo tired of all the old ways of doing things. I don’t wanna look at them anymore. Of course, I will, cause Disney stuff is so goddamn gorgeous, but its like eating too many Airheads. Just to clue everyone in as to what this whole term-long research has been about: I’m doing women in animation. It’s turned into race, class and gender in animation, but it all started with women. Most of my deconstruction is around race and class, because its less obvious than the female stuff.I finished another set of paintings today. These were about Kablooey. I can’t really describe them, so I’m gonna (hopefully) get a camera and get some pictures of all my work up here soon. The millinneum march pics are back now, too, so as soon as I remember to bring them in to work with me, I’ll doctor them, I mean, post them up here.
