Graduation!

On Saturday, we ate dinner with mom, dad, and our godmother. Mom and dad managed to remain snark-free, for the most part. After our dinner, we wandered around the building to a little park with a big fountain containing wrought iron cranes in the process of landing. There was a woman who kept threatening to play guitar, but she never made good. A little cafe on the corner of the building caught my eye, because someone there was reading Suzy's Blog. It was awesome. Suzy's famous.

The first few start down moreDoobie! Sunday was gorgeous early, and we made it to the stadium in plenty of time to watch the graduates parade down the steps into their section. It took a full 30 minutes for them all to make their way in. Eventually, Doobie showed up. We were able to pick her out because of her clever use of a blue robe in a sea of blue robes. There were 5,326 of them. Or something. That's six of my college. And the idiots still couldn't manage to do the wave.

Then we went back to Doobie's apartment and packed up almost everything she owns. It fit into a van, a truck, and a car. Doobie has way more clothes than me, but less furniture. And definitely less power tools. Since Doobie lived on the third floor, I wasn't able to walk well today, and probably should not have ridden to work. Oh well.

Tonight, dad came to visit me. He's doing some sort of patient review for the AIDS council that involves reading files in Asheville. We went to dinner and talked a bit, but then all he could think of to do was go back to his room and watch tv, so I skipped out early. Dad is definitely way more concerned with who picks up the check when he's not spending mom's money. Not that there's anything wrong with that. But there kind of is something wrong with that.

My dad’s in town right now too! Also for a work-related purpose! Except we are all pretty clear about who pays for dinner. And it’s not the AIDS educator. Actually, I’ve realized this week I really have that whole daddy’s girl thing going for me. I mean, he also bought me razors, barrettes, sunscreen, and a $90 pair of shoes. Which might seem normal except: a. I’m positive he won’t tell mom about said purchases. b. I’m very positive he doesn’t do this for the other three siblings. In fact, I really hope none of them read your blog.

It wasn’t that we couldn’t figure out how to do the wave. We just don’t care. There’s just something about football and the football stadium that inspires apathy in Carolina students. ;)

P.S. You only saw about half of my clothing. Be glad I’d already made two trips to Mom’s.

The game I attended was not particularly apathetic. If I recall correctly, there were death threats made against The Dookies, and a guy behind me sounded like he was going to cap Anne and I for cheering while Carolina had the ball on the line.
Or was that the alumni?

You were sitting with old people. I think Dad would have an embalism if he’d had to sit with students. Either that or you would have had an embalism listening to him complain about how students in his day were better fans/human beings for four hours. Besides, the Dook game is special. I’m sure none of that happened when you went to the Ga Tech game with Mom.
