An Accounting

Holycrap. I’m not sure if my activities list is actually very entertaining to anyone, but today it’s for Tdog, who seems a bit homesick. Friday, Foxy and I went to see Swirly and Hidey Ho in The Mystery Plays at 35Below. They were excellent, and the play was perfect to get me in the mood for Halloween. Everything was very atmospheric and intense. The first act is a classic supernatural style scare-fest, while the second is a psychological mind-fuck of the highest order. The Cleav is doing the makeup, and she did a really great job. We were all going to participate in Zombiefest, though I wasn’t dressed quite properly for shuffling, but The Cleav was sick and didn’t really feel up to doing makeup for 7 more people once the play was done.

Saturday was Gay Pride. Foxy and I wandered over to the Westgate parking lot at noon to find lots of tents and no parking. Luckily, we walked. I wore my rainbow hat, knitted specially with extra gay added by The Knitting Lumberjack. I got compliments on it throughout the day. We were in charge of making sure there were lots of kids activities happening, so we painted faces, and I watched as The Beav mastered the art of The Balloon Animal. There was amazing jumbalaya and fried green tomatoes from Twin Cousins. I bought something like 8 raffle tickets from various people, but I have yet to discover if I’ve won anything. Everyone there called WLOS because they apparently didn’t think the huge turnout worth covering. There was definitely a good crowd throughout the day. We only stayed until 6:30, just long enough for Foxy to get her Divine Maggees fix.

Hairspray was predictably packed, but we didn’t go downstairs to watch the show. The karaoke was high calibre, thanks to a big group up from Charleston. We also met a new friend, just in from San Francisco, who will be invited out to the next framily gathering. She seems pretty cool. Well, I was drunk, but Foxy seemed to think she was pretty cool.

Today was a shopping day. Rugged Wearhouse for clothes and shoes, AC Moore for a project for Doobie, Half.com for Carter, Bechdel, and Pullman. I also perused Hancock Fabrics, because I must have a zombie messenger bag, but I’ll have to shop online. The in-store selection sucks. Also, and most importantly, I downloaded The End by Lemony Snicket. It will be incredibly difficult to avoid listening to it all night long. And by “incredibly difficult,” I mean impossible.

Your activities are always engaging and you know it, That’s why your blog is on the NY BestSellers list. You HAVE to call me and tell me what the text message was about, but wait, were you drunk texting?

I have the Fun Home and will be willing to part with it. If you didn’t buy it yet I will pass it on to you. I love His Dark Materials but that trilogy is the only thing I have read by him. Is the book you have listed good?

I already bought the stuff I listed, but thanks for the offer. The Tin Princess by Pullman is part of another series about Sally Lockhart, and they’re all Victorian mysteries. I love them unreservedly. TP is actually not completely part of the series, since it’s about Sally’s daughter. I’ve been downloading the others in the series from Audible.com, but they didn’t have this one, so I was really glad to find it at half.com.
