Nip It In The Ass

Foxy and I have been trying really hard not to segregate ourselves from society. We’ve bypassed several major hurdles in that endeavor: she bought a house and I didn’t move in, we spend at least two nights a week apart (usually more), and when either one of us needs time to ourselves, the other agrees, no questions asked. We also go out with friends at least 4 nights a week, which has strained my budget a bit.

Unfortunately, all this isn’t enough. Two different people mentioned to me this weekend that they thought we were commiting a Lesbian Merge, or at the very least excluding those close to us. I don’t have as much time as I used to, which is why blogging gets pushed to the back of the list sometimes. But I also took up sewing in the past few weeks, and I don’t see anyone bitching about me spending too much time doing that.

The problem is, I don’t really see any problem. I like spending time with Foxy. I like spending time with my friends. Everytime I find out people are hanging out somewhere, I go, unless I’m already in my pajamas (or ‘pajamas’). If Doobie is doing something we don’t want to do, we go back to my room and do something else.

Actually, Doobie is by far the bigger concern of the two issues raised this weekend. I feel like her complaint is actually valid. We do tend to disappear when we’re at home.  So we’re going to work on that. As far as an inability to function independently, neither of us has that problem, and if someone wants me to themselves, all they have to do is say so.

So There.

  1. PUBLIC APOLOGY: I think everyone (including me) totally understands and is totally happy for you. The DJ and I sequestered ourselves from all of society for TWO YEARS (before we moved here.) Perhaps I’m feeling like I’m just not on your short list of people to call, and that’s what I’m really feeling. But then again, I’m guilty of that as well. Anyway I was 99% joking, it was more like a “this is sweet, and wonderful, but I really haven’t seen you and I don’t know if you’re bothered by that, which is fine, I guess.” I’m a major implementer of the joke/criticism. I’ll be more sensitive from this point on.
