Over in this forum, they have a long discussion about all the problems with Asheville. Some of them are right on, but I think most people missed the point. One person actually spent three or four posts talking about how totally dull Asheville is. So, in the spirit of proving him wrong, this is all the things I thought about doing tonight before I decided to go drink margaritas at Lucky Otter until I can no longer lift them.

I love Asheville. I couldn’t read that much of that forum. I have been here since 95 and I have never been bored and I have gained 30 pounds so the food doesn’t suck. My kid is literate and (heaven forbid) not in a homogenized white bread school system. I never cease to meet interesting people from all walks of life and since I moved here from Northampton, MA and didn’t feel like completely painfully outnumbered by a bunch of homophobes we must be doing something right (welcoming community! Yeah!). I do have to admit anytime someone says ‘I moved here from Florida so…’ I pretty much need to ignore them. Because, well, um,yeah…they are from Florida. I know, I am a FLAcist.
I will now climb down from my soap box…
