Went to a Tori concert with Foxy. We were on the fourth row, and the three rows in front of us were forward a bit, so there was more space than usual and we had an excellent view. Everyone was buzzing with pre-show excitement, then Tori came out to check her equipment. Several people went up to give her things and one woman ran over to her and almost hugged her, but veered off at the last minute. Everyone was afraid to touch her, too respectful to break into her personal space. Then she started singing and walked down into the audience. Foxy whispered into my ear, “There are a lot of gay people here.” and mentioned a moaning mime, whatever that is. I think its a mime with his mouth open wide, or painted very large.
Then Tori came over. She was singing a little one-off song, like “Mr. Zebra.” She sat down beside me and whispered sarcastically in my other ear, “There are a lot of gay people here.”
Then our seats were really, really far away, and Tori was gone. The venue had suddenly become both inside and outside, and we wandered into the outside part and started trying to put together a chair that was closer to the stage.
The is not “The Tori Amos Dream.” That dream involved Tori wrapping her body around mine and sticking her tongue in my ear.
And then my sister called. I answered the phone, but I was not a happy girl.
