So on Friday night, we all got dressed up in our Lesbian Mafia best to celebrate the Godmotha’s 30th birthday. We rented La Zoom, brought on a keg of Pabst, and proceeded to take a very dark, very bumpy tour of her life so far. We went to her mom’s house, which happens to be right across the street from this Tuscan villa style house in Malvern Hills that I Must Live In. We went to Charlotte street, which makes shitty lemon drops. We went back to DSS, but nobody was sober enough to pick up their cars except for D’oh, which is why there were 10 of us in a Subaru Forester later in the evening.
La Zoom’s last stop was at a warehouse in the River District, where there were lots of stairs, and a big open room with broken windows, florescent lighting, and lots of columns. There were actually two of those rooms, a light one and a dark one. The band was in the dark one. It was very gothic-industrial, and thanks to some cookies provided by a member of our party, some people thought it was a shared hallucination.
Since we were all dressed up in Mafia clothes, except for D’oh, who totally looked like a narc, we were way better dressed than anyone at the concert (or anyone at Charlotte St, for that matter). We were also way drunker since we’d been touring the city in a bus full of beer for about 3 hours. The birthday girl had a fabulous time, and there can’t be many better ways to open your door on your birthday than to find 31 of your closest friends on a tricked out bus with beer.
