I am beginning to thaw.

We played our last softball game tonight, this time against Biltmore Estate. Last week, we lost to Scully’s. As far as I’m concerned, Scully’s has two black marks against it: shitty food and assholey, cheating softball players. They yell when they’re rounding the bases, hoping to make basemen drop the ball. They hang out outside the dugout and get in the way of plays. They say things like “Easy Out” when certain players come up. While this may be true, it’s rude and does not foster community, and plus it’s D League recreational Softball, you douchebags. After the game, instead of the usual robotic “Good Game,” they responded to our congratulations with “Thanks.” Not just one guy, although the jerk with blonde dreadlocks should never walk in front of my car, but half the team. Six assholes on one team is a very high average.

The BE team was at least polite about handing us our asses. And to be quite truthful, I wasn’t looking forward to playing again tomorrow night. Since it hit 34 this evening, and promises to go down to at least 37 tomorrow, you will see no tears on my face once my ducts melt.

This morning at 4 am, I woke to find Bear vomiting lovingly on the other pillow. He does that sometimes, just to make sure I’m paying attention.

I am still not blogging about my incredibly frustrating work situation, but I feel the need to blog about how I’m not blogging about it just to make you understand how incredibly frustrating it continues to be.

Foxy and I had our first “Well, I don’t know, what do you want?” discussion and it went very well. We’re still on the same page, or at least reading the same novella. It has dirty pictures, this novella.

More softball tomorrow night. We still don’t practice, and our shortstop just found out she’s pregnant. We’re playing Scully’s. We’re going to go down in flames.

I’m having Perma-grin that borders on a medical issue at the present time.

I knew that I was kinda lonely, and that I’d like to start dating again, but I was completely unprepared for how horny I would be. Like, all the time. I haven’t felt like this in 6 years. Insane.

So we had our first Actual Date, With Talking, last night. We were going to go to BMcK’s pool party, but then there was some sort of issue with breathing that he was having, so that got cancelled. Instead, we watched Blazing Saddles and canoodled (that’s Cuddling with Intent, for those unaware) on the couch. I made her dinner, we perused my high school yearbooks, it was all so very mundane, I swear.

Why don’t you believe me?

Anyway, she’s awesome; you will adore her the second you meet her, if you haven’t met her already. I still haven’t come up with a good nickname yet, but you’ll obviously be the first to know.

Tonight we had our very first softball game.

It was pretty shitty.

I would say that we didn’t have enough lesbians on our team, but I feel that the overall shittiness of the Hairspray team proves that particular stereotype wrong.

I know you’re all breathless in anticipation of the score. Let me preface it by saying that the other team plays together in the church league as well, and four of their women play serious fast-pitch. None of our team plays serious anything. DientesHombre, our coach, coaches a nationally competitive 11-13 year old fast pitch team. He’s a good coach. We just aren’t very good players.

So to sum up, the other team all knows each other, they’ve played together for a long time, they have major league players, and they were all 7′5″. (At the request of Doobie, all hyperbole will now be marked by green type. My words: red, hyperbole: green. Keep it straight.)

We lost 24-7.

As a rebuttal to our loss, because I am a very verbal person, and thus can not provide a physical rebuttal, I must present that I don’t think the other team should be in the C League. Every single pitch that went across the plate was a hit. It was very frustrating. I was catcher, and I played much better than I do at practice, but we still sucked.

Also, I warmed up with the rugby team, then raced across town to the ballpark. First rugby match is this Saturday, time and place to be announced. Watch this space. You’ll get to see me run around with water!
